MSH: A species of gram-negative, aerobic bacteria that is the causative agent of LEGIONNAIRES' DISEASE. It has been isolated from numerous environmental sites as well as from human lung tissue, respiratory secretions, and blood.,NCI: A species of aerobic, gram negative, rod shaped bacteria in the phylum Proteobacteria. This species is motile by flagella, nonacid fast, pleomorphic, nonencapsulated, nonfermentative, urease negative and oxidase and catalase positive. L. pneumophila is pathogenic, being the causative agent of legionellosis or Legionnaires disease.,NCI: Any bacterial organism that can be assigned to the species Legionella pneumophila.
