MSH: Storage-stable blood coagulation factor acting in the intrinsic pathway. Its activated form, IXa, forms a complex with factor VIII and calcium on platelet factor 3 to activate factor X to Xa. Deficiency of factor IX results in HEMOPHILIA B (Christmas Disease).,NCI: Factor IX is a vitamin k-dependent plasma protein that participates in the intrinsic pathway of blood coagulation by converting factor X to its active form in the presence of ca(2+) ions, phospholipids, and factor VIIIa.
