Extrapyramidal Disorders


CSP: defects in basal ganglia function; characterized by changes in muscle tone, poverty of voluntary movements (akinesia), or abnormal involuntary movements (dyskinesia).,NCI: A movement disorder caused by defects in the basal ganglia. The clinical manifestations include changes in the muscle tone, dyskinesia, and akinesia. Causes include vascular disorders, degenerative disorders, and antipsychotic drugs.,NCI: A disorder characterized by abnormal, repetitive, involuntary muscle movements, frenzied speech and extreme restlessness.
