MSH: A partial denture constructed before the teeth it replaces are removed. It is then inserted immediately after the removal of the natural teeth for functional and cosmetic reasons during the healing process. It is to be replaced later by the fitted partial denture.,UMD: Partial dentures designed for insertion immediately following the removal of natural teeth. These dentures are custom made before the natural teeth are extracted, using the patient's mouth as a mold for the denture base where a set of artificial teeth will be attached. Immediate partial dentures are inserted directly over the bleeding sockets when the bone and gingival tissue, which supported the natural teeth, are still intact; they will usually require temporary relining at the dentist office and a permanent relining (or replacement by a permanent denture) at the dental laboratory after the soft tissues have healed and shrinkage of the underlying bone has occurred
