MSH: A species of RHODOCOCCUS found in soil, herbivore dung, and in the intestinal tract of cows, horses, sheep, and pigs. It causes bronchopneumonia in foals and can be responsible for infection in humans compromised by immunosuppressive drug therapy, lymphoma, or AIDS.,NCI: Any bacterial organism that can be assigned to the species Rhodococcus equi.,NCI: A species of aerobic, Gram positive, rod and cocci shaped bacteria assigned to the phylum Actinobacteria. This species has a pink color, is urease positive and grows on glycerol. R. equi is a lung pathogen that can infect grazing animals and immunocompromised people.
