MSH: An oxidoreductase that catalyzes the conversion of HYDROGEN PEROXIDE to water and oxygen. It is present in many animal cells. A deficiency of this enzyme results in ACATALASIA.,NCI: Human catalase protein (526 aa, approximately 60 kD) is encoded by the CAT gene. This peroxisomal enzyme catalyzes the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. Catalase is one of the primary cellular defenses against oxidative stress.
