MSH: Infection by parasites of the genus BALANTIDIUM. The presence of Balantidium in the LARGE INTESTINE leads to DIARRHEA; DYSENTERY; and occasionally ULCER.,NCI: A parasitic protozoal infection caused by Balantidium coli that involves the large intestinal mucosa. Signs and symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, headache and weight loss.
