Aberrant glycosylation, detected by lectin histochemistry, can predict outcome in some tumour entities. One such lectin is aviscumine (recombinant mistletoe lectin). Aviscumine has cytotoxic effects and can therefore be used as anti-tumour therapy.lld:pubmed
