| pubmed-article:1121963 | pubmed:abstractText | The records of 104 patients with the diagnosis of intussusception who were admitted to the Saisei-kai Suita Hospital during the past five years were reviewed. There were no deaths. All patients were treated primarily by barium enema with a successful reduction rate of 82%. Successful reduction requires the use of general anesthesia, repetition of the procedure after a three- or five-minute waiting period, use of a balloon catheter, and manipulation. The most important points are early detection of this disease by the pediatrician and enthusiasm on the part of the surgeon. | lld:pubmed |
