pubmed-article:10402038pubmed:abstractTextThis technical note examines the potential for preparing template DNA in polymerase chain reactions (PCR) from urine in Japanese macaques (Macaca fuscata). Microsatellite band patterns from urine samples showed close agreement with those of blood and fecal samples, and only a few hundred microl of urine yielded a template DNA for PCR. This research will increase the opportunity for scientists to examine the genetic backgrounds of their target animals by using non-invasive sample collection in the wild.lld:pubmed
