pubmed-article:8619275pubmed:abstractTextHematopoietic growth factors are cytokines that regulate the growth, development, and function of hematopoetic lineages. These hematopoietic growth factors have great potential for improving the quality of life and for reducing toxicity. This article reviews some of the most clinically relevant hematopoietic growth factors and what is known about their use in veterinary medicine. In particular, the following hematopoietic growth factors are discussed: erythropoietin, stem-cell factor, interleukin-3, interleukin-5, granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, and macrophage colony-stimulating factor.lld:pubmed
