Lesions of the popliteal artery or its branches are serious; over the total amount already mentioned, it was necessary to amputate in 12 cases; 12 patients presented the Volkmann syndrome. In cases of fractures of the lower end of femur, upper end of tibia and knee dislocations, the importance of early diagnosis of the acute ischemic syndrome is emphasized.
