| pubmed-article:3888916 | pubmed:abstractText | This epidemiological study of the elderly in a Jerusalem neighborhood assessed oral health using five indicators: prevalence of oral mucosal conditions, denture condition, the age of dentures, oral hygiene status and periodontal condition. The utilization by the elderly of dental services and their awareness of their oral problems were also surveyed. Ninety-six percent of the elderly population were assessed as needing oral care. The capacity of the subsidized dental services in Jerusalem covers only about 15% of the elderly in need of such services. | lld:pubmed |
