pubmed-article:2236824pubmed:abstractTextWe have utilized the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique to detect proviral sequences of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) from urine sediments of HIV seropositive individuals. HIV amplified DNA sequences, easily detectable in peripheral blood cells, were not found in the urine sediments of the seropositive individuals. This finding is in agreement with previous observations that the urines of seropositive individuals are not infective.lld:pubmed
