pubmed-article:20469281pubmed:abstractTextThe effects of pre-admission testing on subsequent surgery and anesthesia were studied in 115 patients. Although most abnormalities found were ignored or not pursued, one operation was delayed by one day as a result of the testing and three other new diagnoses were made, but did not affect surgery or anesthesia. More investigation is needed into the outcomes of laboratory testing to identify those tests which actually do generate the most useful outcomes.lld:pubmed
