Serum levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), which is a marker of a systemic inflammatory state, are associated with coronary atherosclerosis and endothelial dysfunction. Serum uric acid (UA) levels have also been implicated in the development of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
