Examples of single-molecule studies are given, including photophysics and photochemistry pertinent to single-molecule measurements, spectral fluctuations, Raman spectroscopy, diffusional motions, conformational dynamics, fluorescence resonant energy transfer, exciton dynamics, and enzymatic turnovers.
