pubmed-article:14725505pubmed:abstractTextBACKGROUND: A compound odontoma is a mixed tumor of odontogenic origin, in which both ectodermal and mesenchymal cells exhibit complete differentiation, resulting in the formation of tooth structures. It occurs with equal frequency in both sexes, and is often initially asymptomatic. CASE REPORT: A 7-year-old boy was recently examined in our Department for management of a compound odontoma. Surgical treatment was invasive because of the size of the lesion, but it was possible to use interceptive orthodontic treatment to restore the dental arch.lld:pubmed
