In the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, precursor aminopeptidase I and alpha-mannosidase are selectively targeted via the Cvt and the autophagic pathways to the vacuole. Two studies now uncover the molecular basis of the selective sequestration of these two enzymes.
