pubmed-article:11034630pubmed:abstractTextA dose-response relationship can be established for local control of a variety of malignancies treated with radiation, yet palliation of symptoms oftentimes does not have a clear dose-response relationship. It is important that palliation be achieved with as efficient a fractionation schedule as possible in patients with limited life expectancy and with as few side effects as possible. This article reviews the literature addressing optimal schedules of radiation for palliation based on prognostic factors.lld:pubmed
