pubmed-article:1028998pubmed:abstractTextResults are reported of a preliminary trial with clonazepam in 19 patients with trigeminal neuralgia refractory to carbamazepine treatment. In this series of patients, 13 (68.4%) showed excellent or good improvement. No serious side-effects were seen. The pharmacology and mechanism of action of clonazepam are discussed. It is suggested that patients with trigeminal neuralgia, who do not respond to carbamazepine, should be given clonazepam before surgery is considered.lld:pubmed
