MOBP is abundantly expressed in central nervous system myelin,and shares several characteristics with myelin basic protein (MBP), in terms of regional distribution and function. This family is the middle and C-terminal regions of MOBP which has been shown to be essential for normal arrangement of the radial component in central nervous system myelin [1,2]. Most member-proteins carry a FVHE-PHD type zinc-finger at their N-terminus.
