FUNCTION: This is one of the several different receptors for 5- hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a biogenic hormone that functions as a neurotransmitter, a hormone, and a mitogen. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins that stimulate adenylate cyclase. It has a high affinity for tricyclic psychotropic drugs. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Localized exclusively in the central nervous system, predominantly in the corpus striatum but also in various limbic and cortical regions. SIMILARITY: Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. GENE SYNONYMS:Htr6. COPYRIGHT: Protein annotation is derived from the UniProt Consortium (http://www.uniprot.org/). Distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivs License., SEQUENCE 436 AA; 46923 MW; 6BC00F6A3CBA5FB4 CRC64;
