CSP: the unintended, deleterious effects of licit therapies, that are properly administered; for adverse or side effects of pharmaceuticals use DRUG ADVERSE EFFECT; for erroneous administration of therapies see PATIENT SAFETY/MEDICAL ERROR.,NCI: A problem that occurs when treatment affects healthy tissues or organs. Some common side effects of cancer treatment are fatigue, pain, nausea, vomiting, decreased blood cell counts, hair loss, and mouth sores.,NCI: The term was used in various ways in the past, to describe unintended effects of medical intervention, usually negative (unfavourable), but also positive (favourable) ones. It is recommended that this term no longer be used and particularly should not be regarded as synonymous with adverse event or adverse reaction.
