MSH: The middle portion of the pharynx that lies posterior to the mouth, inferior to the SOFT PALATE, and superior to the base of the tongue and EPIGLOTTIS. It has a digestive function as food passes from the mouth into the oropharynx before entering ESOPHAGUS.,CSP: region of the stomatognathic system and the gastrointestinal system that extends from the lips, past the soft palate and to the epiglottis; also refers to the specific anatomical portion of pharynx, oropharynx, that is below the soft palate and above the epiglottis and is continuous with the mouth.,NCI: The part of the throat at the back of the mouth behind the oral cavity. It includes the back third of the tongue, the soft palate, the side and back walls of the throat, and the tonsils.,NCI: The part of the pharynx between the soft palate and the upper portion of the epiglottis.
