MSH: The middle portion of the pharynx that lies posterior to the mouth, inferior to the SOFT PALATE, and superior to the base of the tongue and EPIGLOTTIS. It has a digestive function as food passes from the mouth into the oropharynx before entering ESOPHAGUS.,CSP: region of the stomatognathic system and the gastrointestinal system that extends from the lips, past the soft palate and to the epiglottis; also refers to the specific anatomical portion of pharynx, oropharynx, that is below the soft palate and above the epiglottis and is continuous with the mouth.,NCI: The part of the throat at the back of the mouth behind the oral cavity.
