UMD: Brushes designed to apply materials (e.g., resins) and to remove deposits (e.g., calculi) and/or debris from teeth and surrounding tissue during dental procedures. These brushes typically include a set of tufts of bristles or other flexible materials at the distal tip and a handle for proper manipulation or an appropriate configuration to be attached to a dental handpiece. Dental brushes are used in dental offices. Dedicated brushes are available for resin application in tooth cavities; application of antiseptic, medicine, and fluoride on the tooth surface; tooth prophylaxis; and removal of debris from gingival tissue.
