NCI: Any bacterial organism that can be assigned to the species Tatumella ptyseos.,NCI: A species of facultatively anaerobic, Gram negative, rod shaped bacteria in the phylum Proteobacteria. This species is motile, catalase positive, oxidase , decarboxylase , and gelatinase negative and can produce acid from glucose, mannose, glycerol, melibiose, salicilin, sucrose, and trehalose. T. ptyseos is part of the normal human flora and is an opportunistic pathogen that can cause respiratory and gastrointestinal diseases in immunocompromised individuals.
