AIR: LE Cells: mature neutrophils with an inclusion of homogeneous staining degenerated nucleoprotein and antibody to nucleoprotein. They suggest SLE but are found in many diseases. They are prepared in vitro by mechanical disruption of blood followed by incubation to allow phagocytosis of nuclear material.
