The effect of human growth hormone (Crescormon) on 2000 tissue cultures of embryonal bone from the domestic fowl was examined. The reactions of the osteoblasts were distinct; up to a dilution of 1:100 there was a marked stimulation of cell proliferation which fell away remarkably at still higher dilutions. But these proliferation stimulating reaction fall away immediately when the time of duration of action of the hormone stated on the pack has expired. Then reactions occur which are reminiscent of those of a cytostasis: an ever increasing inhibition of all cell activity.
