Glucocorticoids remain the foundation of therapy for acute ulcerative colitis despite systemic side effects that limit their use. Prodrugs that selectively deliver glucocorticoids to the colon may lower the required dose and side effects. The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of a newly synthesized glucocorticoid-dextran prodrug.
