Around 1900, dermatology as practised in Prague formed a link between Austria and Germany. The Congress of the German Dermatological Society held in 1889 in Prague was the first highlight of this connection. The topics and contents of the papers are characterized. The development of the dermatological clinics in Prague is described and their directors and research emphases are listed.
