The conformation of ferrocene with two betaLac appendages is changed on addition of Ca2+ and Na+, which can be ascribed to intramolecular betaLac-betaLac interactions mediated by these cations and the resultant stabilization of twisted rotamers along the Cp-Fe-Cp axis.
