The pain of an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is believed to signify rupture, and emergency surgery for symptomatic AAA is a widely accepted practice to prevent rupture. To clarify the benefit of emergency surgery we evaluated the clinical course of emergency treated patients with non-ruptured AAAs.
